Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes
The Institute of learning offers two pathways for teacher training, each designed to be personalised and meet the needs of trainees. Both teacher training programmes are operated in partnership with Durham University in the UK and provide internationally recognised qualifications. All practical placements will be in a Wellington College China, Huili or excellent partnership schools.

The two teacher training programmes are:

PGCE
The Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) is the main teacher training qualification in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It comprises academic and practical components, so that along side lectures and written assignments, trainees must demonstrate that they meet all eight standard through their practice in the classroom. It is a one year programme that includes 1 month located at Durham University to attend a conference and work in schools in England.
Requirements are:
- Bachelors degree from a good university
- IELTS 7 or English as a first language

QTS
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is the certificate that all teachers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland must hold. The programme is practical in nature and involves trainees undertaking extended teaching practices in schools during which they must demonstrate that they meet the eight standards. This is a one-year programme that includes 1 month located at Durham University to attend training and work in schools in England.
Requirements are:
- Chinese graduate with Good command of English or English first language graduate
